HOW DO WE MAKE IT HAPPEN?

URBAN PEDAGOGY

Urban pedagogy is the set of theoretical knowledge that guides educational actions on the city.

There are three dimensions of analysis that enrich the relationship between education and the city: the city as a container for education, learning in the city; the city as an educational medium, learning from the city; and the city as content of education, learn the city.

In Huasipichanga, we use urban pedagogy as a methodology that allows initiating processes of co-creation of the public space and the city, learning from all the actors that comprise it.

URBAN RESEARCH

Huasipichanga designs and executes research on urban issues to increase data and evidence to transform the city. Our transdisciplinary approach allows us to provide a holistic lense to any research project combining design, social, environmental studies, and technology to identify problems, opportunities and solutions.

URBAN ACTION

We design and provide specific actions that can transform the public space, starting from specific, quick-start, low-cost activities that require short-term engagements, and use existing networks and skills but provide long term results, strategies and impact. From tactical urbanism, campaigns or DYI activities, we engage the community in a step by step plan from action to strategy.

URBAN STRATEGIES

Huasipichanga co-creates short and long-term strategies for urban planning and city development. Our goal is to create common visions of the city with all its stakeholders allowing every actor to have a role in the process of planning and transformation. We facilitate inclusive and participatory processes that lead cities to their end goals according to their vision, resources and ideal perspective. We combine socio-spatial strategies that allow short-term actions and wins towards a long term city wide strategy.

URBAN DESIGN

In Huasipichanga, the urban design process entails the spatial and the social transformation of a space, a neighborhood or a city taking into account the connections between the people and the place, the ecosystem and the dynamics between human and non-human inhabitants of the city. Our urban design projects use placemaking and co-creation processes in the physical space and in the heart of the community.
