We took our voices to the World Urban Forum in Egypt 🌍✈️

Together with young people from S2Cities Cuenca and Ambato, we brought projects like Arteria, Espacio Sano y Seguro, Bibliorío, and Renovarte to the most important urbanism event in the world, organized by UN-Habitat. We went to show that art, creativity, and public space are tools for healing our cities, and that young people have the power to change their course.

UDAMUN is the Universidad del Azuay Model United Nations. In its fourth edition, Huasipichanga helped students adopt a participatory approach and talk with many of the immigrants who have chosen Cuenca as their place of residence. Using a large world map placed around the city, people could point out where they came from and share their opinions on how inclusive the city is and the aspects that could be improved. The aim was to raise awareness and promote multicultural spaces free from any kind of discrimination.

During the academic events held within the framework of the Pan-American Architecture Biennial of Quito 2016 (BAQ2016), Huasipichanga was selected to present its projects and, later, awarded the prize for "good citizen practices." At this prestigious international event, Huasipichanga presented itself as an example to follow in the development of participatory practices capable of improving people's quality of life.

CHANGEMACKERX CHANGE - Yerevan, Armenia

 

IMPACT was an innovation and entrepreneurship program for students at the University of Cuenca, focused on creative, youth-led solutions around youth safety and well-being, mobility, and the youth economy. It brought together 159 enrolled young people, of whom 40 took part in the Bootcamp, with representation from 21 academic programs and strong female participation.

Placemaking Week Europe 2019 is Europe's largest conference and festival dedicated to celebrating the impact of placemaking on the urban fabric. Around 400 placemakers, a diverse group of professionals working to create better public space and a city built at the scale of its citizens, will gather in Valencia from June 12 to 15.

Public Company for the Economic Development of Cuenca (EDEC-EP) – Teamwork Workshop:
By simulating the launch of a project aimed at gathering citizens' opinions on economic development and the work that EDEC-EP can do to promote it, we applied participatory methodologies in order to:
1.- Foster team spirit;
2.- Raise awareness about the group's position as public servants; and
3.- Highlight the importance of integrating citizen participation practices into their work to achieve sustainable improvements.
