Huasipichanga: creating cities we want to live in

Huasipichanga is a transdisciplinary urban consultancy based in Ecuador and the Netherlands that works at the intersection of placemaking, community participation, and the transformation of public space.

Our mission is to address urban challenges by bringing together communities, local governments, organizations, and businesses in the collective creation and care of public spaces. We believe that cities should be built by the people who live in them. That's why our work focuses on designing participation.

Over the years, the Huasipichanga team has developed its own participatory placemaking methodology. Proven through our projects, workshops, and tools, we support communities and institutions in reimagining public spaces.

Huasipi…what?

Huasipichai - is a word in kichwa (indigenous ecuadorian language) that refers to the inaguration of a house built together with the support of the community.

Pachanga - is a word commonly used for party. We believe that any new project that has been built as a community is worth celebrating and that is why all our projects are a Huasipichanga!

That's why every one of our projects is a Huasipichanga!
