MARÍA PIEDAD ESCANDÓN

COMMUNICATION

María Piedad works at the intersection of city, youth, and communication for well-being.

As an environmental engineer, she has oriented her career toward co-creation processes with young people, where communication is not just a tool, but a key element for activating participation, building a sense of belonging, and transforming public space.

She is currently part of the Safe and Sound Cities (S²Cities) program in Cuenca, where she drives strategic and participatory communication processes, raising the profile of issues such as youth well-being, mental health, and the right to the city.

Through communication, she facilitates dialogue between young people, communities, and institutional actors, translating ideas into concrete actions that impact the territory.

She has worked on projects that combine urban sustainability, participation, and community narratives, understanding that transforming the city also means transforming the way we tell its story and live it.
